Fall is Upon us

Hooray! I am pleased to announce I am wearing boots today. Beautiful Downtown Portland is suppoed to reach a nice and pleasant 74 degrees today. I woke up this morning to darkness outside and realized that is one of my favorite things about summer; all of the light. I love waking up at 6am (okay, maybe not) and it being light outside and also being able to take the Pug for a walk after dinner. Now my light menu will consist of dark with a side of dark. Boo!
But, I will take however, the fabulous stuff that does come with fall. Let me just list them out, cause I like alot of things about fall:
-chai tea
-leaves changing color
-crisp air
-scarves
-boots and skirts
-curling up by the fire
-tea in general
-quiet mornings
-harvest time
-halloween candy!
-coffee drinks!
-new photo ops
-fall lines-I seem to buy alot of my clothes in the fall.
-having an excuse to hunker down inside
I think that about covers it. Happy Fall!

Local Show: Crafty Wonderland

It's that time again!
Time to hit Oktoberfest this Saturday, September 12th at Widmer, sleep in the next day, get up, get your Voodoo Doughnut and then head on down to the Doug Fir Lounge to check out Crafty Wonderland on Sunday. You can't fit more Portland goodness than that into a 24 hour period, people! Crafty Wonderland will be open downstairs, from 11-4 on Sunday and I hear there will be a band out on the patio that day too! Doug Fir's FREE Summer concert series called Pickin' on Sundays will be rockin' from 3-7pm. You can check out hot music and cool drink specials out on the Doug Fir patio. What a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon!!
I'll be peddling my wares with my new display and tons of items I am not listing in my Etsy shop until AFTER Crafty Wonderland. Why? Because I want to see your smiling face in person.
See you there.

Re-do!
(photo is from DesignSponge.com)Well, I finally made up my mind on paint colors. It's a small miracle considering the long list I've built up from pouring over Design Sponge's Sneek Peeks. My inpiration came from my favorite Sneek Peek of Jessica Lynch's home. Her pad has similar wood floors and layout to our place and I love all of the art! I'm seriously in love with the grayish blue color paired with the olive green.
Wish me luck and heeps and heeps of patience!

Time flies...

It was 5 years ago today that my Husband and I were married. At this very moment, five years ago, we were on the pier of a floating restaurant on the outskirts of Portland with our closest friends and family. We were married on a 42 foot boat with 17 people piled onboard while floating along the Columbia Channel. Our friend Chris married us, reciting the vows we had written for each other.
I'll always remember how much fun we had on that day; how the weather miraculously cleared up that morning, that I left my bag at home (with C's ring in it) and my new husband, chasing me around a pier with a handful of cake-ready to be smeared all over my face. Yep-that guy is my very best friend and I am a lucky gal.
Cheers!

Where the crazy comes from

This last weekend C and I went camping with my family from Washington and had a blast. I really enjoy getting together with them. Every time we do, I see the resemblance between us, and sometimes the likeness is inspiring. Sometimes, not so much as we have a string of awnry that runs deep. I still love it-reminds me of my Grandma Jones. This trip, I noticed there is a little bit of humor that is embedded in each of us. LOVE it. What about you-is there something you love and/or dislike about your family?
Thursday
Third Thursday in Kenton!

Our little neighborhood has been going through some changes, slowly but surely since we move in about 4 years ago. It's been fun to watch. New houses popping up, new neighbors, and new businesses. One of the new businesses that I am most excited about is Posies Cafe.
The first time we went in was while walking the dog and I got the best soy latte I've ever had. Actually, every coffee drink I've gotten there is darn good. Not kidding.
Recently a handful of businesses in Kenton have come up with a fantastic idea- an art walk every 3rd Thursday of every month.
So come say hi and get a delicious coffee drink and enjoy some live music from the talented Ben Thomson.
